Keara Trummel, Owner

Private Voice Instructor

Keara is the proud owner of Curtain Call Studios. After retiring from performing full time in 2008, Keara discovered her love and passion for teaching the performing arts. She taught out of her home studio for several years but soon saw the need for a studio in SWFL that offered voice, dance, acting, and piano all under one roof. She was thrilled to have her dream come true with the opening of Curtain Call Studios in November 2014. Keara is from Hershey, Pennsylvania and attended Shenandoah Conservatory of Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia.  While in college, Keara had the pleasure of studying voice under Dr. Janette Ogg and Edrie Means-Weekly.  After four years at Shenandoah she graduated magna cum laude, earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music Theatre.  Upon graduation, Keara was fortunate enough to work extensively as a professional actor, singer, and dancer for 15 years.  She has lived and worked in Washington D.C., Alexandria, VA, Lancaster PA, and Philadelphia, PA before moving to Ft. Myers, FL in 2004 after being cast in her first show at Broadway Palm.  She has been a regular performer at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre in Ft. Myers and has appeared there in over 25 productions.  Some of her favorite Broadway Palm productions include: The Wizard of Oz, Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, Oklahoma, Man of La Mancha, 42nd Street, Godspell, Jekyll & Hyde, and Church Basement Ladies. She has also worked at several other theatres across the country including: Fulton Opera House, Walnut Street Theatre, Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, Allenberry Playhouse, West End Dinner Theatre, and Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre.  In addition to performing, Keara has been very active in the arts around the Southwest Florida area. She served as Camp Director for the 2013 & 2014 Alliance for the Arts Summer Camp, Director of the Triple Threat Theatre Camp, was Assistant Director/Choreographer for Camp Florida Rep & Alliance for the Arts’ Spring Break and Winter Camps, Vocal Director at The Alliance for the Arts Summer Camp, and has taught classes at FL Rep, Alliance for the Arts, Gulfshore Playhouse, and The Canterbury School.  She has been an adjudicator for the Young Artists Awards, the District Thespian Festival, and has taught workshops in voice and improvisation at Barbara B. Mann for the High School Musical Awards. Keara has studied the Connected Voice Technique under the instruction of Susan Niekamp and Mary Walkley. Many of Keara's students have seen major successes in local competitions including Young Artists Awards- her students were category winners and overall winners for 4 consecutive years. She has also had several students be awarded talent scholarships to college. Keara is thrilled to work with her amazing team of Instructors at CCS, and loves getting to know all the CCS students and their parents. She is passionate about arts education and loves helping to guide young performers.

Kara Konken is a professional actress who has enjoyed teaching at Curtain Call Studios since day 1. Kara received her training from the musical theater program at Baldwin Wallace University. She grew up in Chicago, Illinois, where she spent 5 years playing Kit, Molly, and Kirsten in the American Girl Musicals. Recent theaters include:  Broadway Palm Dinner Theater, TheatreZone, Show Palace, and Free Fall Theatre Company.  She is also the CEO of Wish Upon A Star: Princess Parties! 


Abigail Jackson

Private Piano Instructor


Abigail Jackson has been teaching private piano in the Ft. Myers/Lehigh Acres area for over 6 years, as well as working in the community as a professional accompanist. She started playing piano at 4 years old and has loved it ever since. Most kids have to be forced to practice... Abigail had to be told to stop! Music is one of her passions, as well as helping others learn to appreciate all the joys that music can bring. Abigail has played for a production of Beauty and the Beast, a choral concert at Disney World, and the FBA Music Performance Assessments 4 years in a row, as well as being her church's pianist for 5 years. Terri Schafer 

Private Voice Instructor


Terri L. Schafer holds a MA in Music, BA in Visual and Performing Arts, and National Board Certification in Teaching.  She has taught private voice and piano for more than forty years and is a professional Music Director and Accompanist.  Students of Ms. Schafer have been awarded numerous college scholarships and have been accepted to noted music theatre colleges around the country.  Ms. Schafer is CEO of Showtime Productions, Inc. which is a performing arts educational company that has developed New York Intensive trips escorting Broadway hopefuls to New York City for theatre workshops and shows. She also conducts and teaches music theatre workshops around the country.  Ms. Schafer has taught choir and theatre in public schools for over 25 years and has directed over 75 stage productions for schools, private studios and community theatres.  She has been selected for Who’s Who in American Teachers and Who’s Who in American Business Women.  Ms. Schafer is a musician at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre and also works in their costume department.   She spends her summer teaching in Colorado and lives in Fort Myers, FL. 

Tommy Short

Acting Instructor

Tommy has been performing professionally in Fort Myers since he was in third grade. He was the Stage Manager at the BIG ARTS Strauss Theater for three years as well as acting in productions at the Strauss Theater and Broadway Palm. As a young actor, he frequently performed at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre and was a Young Artist awards finalist for drama, contemporary voice, and classical voice. Tommy is a graduate from Florida Gulf Coast University and is currently an actor on the Murder Mystery Dinner Train as well as a Media Producer for the Lee County Tax Collector.


Kelly Johnson

Kelly Johnson is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University with a BA in Theatre and a Dance minor. Kelly is currently based in Ft. Lauderdale, but Ft. Myers is her hometown where she was an acting student of Miss Keara and a voice student of Susan Niekamp for over 11 years. She is also a co-owner of Measure for Measure Theatre and a non-profit organization, Measure for Measure Beyond The Stage located in Ft. Lauderdale. Kelly has performed on both coasts in several productions as well as performing with Kristen Chenoweth in Naples and dancing aboard Warner Brother’s Polar Express Train Ride Experience! Kelly is extremely passionate about arts education and loves being a part of the Curtain Call Studios family! 


Rachael Lord

Rachael Lord is a professional actress who loves teaching the next generation of young artists! Rachael received her training from Florida Southern College, where she got her BFA in Musical Theatre with a minor in History. She has worked as a Singer/Dancer for RWS Entertainment Group in New York City, and can be seen as Sabine in Gulfshore Playhouse’s touring production of In Flight: The Story of Sabine Van Dam! Rachael is also a performer with Wish Upon a Star: Princess Parties!
