Teen Acting Technique (ages 13-18)
Acting/Scene Study class will delve into the steps necessary to become a skilled actor. The acting techniques taught are based off the Meisner and Stanislavski techniques. These techniques are based on character development through objectives, subtext, intentions, obstacles, and improvisation. Honing your acting and improv skills is an excellent way to work through stage fright, improve public speaking skills, create interesting characters, take risks in acting, learn to "think outside the box”, and trust your gut instincts. Students will be assigned age and content appropriate scenes and monologues and learn how to bring them to life by using the techniques taught in class.
Teen Broadway Dance (Jazz/Ballet/Tap) (ages 13-18)
This Broadway Dance class for teens teaches dance technique while exploring the various dance styles used in Broadway shows. Develop your inner performer and focus on Broadway-style dance moves in this lively class. Classes incorporate ballet technique combined with jazz movement, including warm-ups, stretches, and combinations. This class also includes an introduction to basic tap techniques and understanding of rhythmical concepts. Broadway shows range in dance styles from ballet to hip hop and dancers should be familiar with all styles. Emphasis will also be placed on learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expressions which is essential for any musical theatre performer!
